ADMISSIONS ELIGIBILTY CHECK POLICY
The LOC Centre is committed to providing a high-quality education and experience to all its students. We aim to inspire them to develop their full potential to succeed and thus be highly employable, capable of advanced study and research, and confident in their own abilities. The College’s Admissions Policy aims to support our aspirations and distinctiveness, and as such we welcome applications from talented individuals with the potential to succeed academically.
Entry to the College Courses:
Minimum entry criteria, including qualifications and any experience or skills which are essential or desirable, are published annually for each programme of study, and are made available and accessible through a range of means including the College website. The College welcomes applications from candidates with qualifications from overseas institutions.
This policy works together with the whole school policies on Assessment and Examinations.
LOC Centre is committed-
- To ensure that assessment methodology is valid, reliable and does not disadvantage or advantage any group of learners or individuals.
- To ensure that the assessment procedure is open, fair and free from bias and to national standards.
To ensure that there is accurate and detailed recording of assessment decisions.
In order to do this, the LOC Centre will:
- Ensure that learners are provided with assignments that are fit for purpose, to enable them to produce appropriate evidence for assessment.
- Assess learner’s evidence using only the published assessment and grading criteria.
- Ensure that assessment decisions are impartial, valid and reliable.
- Ensure that learners are adequately prepared for external examinations.
- Ensure that learners are entered for the correct external examination.
- Share good assessment practice between all programme.
LEARNER REGISTRATION, TACKING & CERTIFICATION POLICY
LOC Centre will
- Register each learner within the awarding body requirements.
- Make each learner aware of their registration status.
- Inform the awarding body of withdrawals, transfers or changes to learner details.
- Ensure that certificate claims are timely and based solely on internally verified assessment records.
- Ensure that prior achievement of learners is recognised and certificated according to the regulatory requirement:
- Keep all records safely and securely for three years’ post certification.
DATA PROTECTION POLICY
LOC Centre needs to keep certain information about its employees, students and other users to allow it to monitor performance, achievements, and health and safety, for example. It is also necessary to process information so that staff can be recruited and paid, courses organized and legal obligations to funding bodies and government complied with. To comply with the law, information must be collected and used fairly, stored safely and not disclosed to any other person unlawfully. To do this, the College must comply with the Data Protection Principles, which are set out in the Data Protection Act 1998 (the 1998 Act.)
MALPRACTICE POLICY AND PLAGIARISM POLICY
LOC Centre is committed to ensuring that any incidents of assessment malpractice are minimised, identified and dealt with in an open, fair and effective manner. The college is also committed to ensuring that work presented by students is their own, and that due reference and acknowledgement is given to other information sources used. Students found to be plagiarising work, or committing any form of assessment malpractice, potentially face disqualification from their current examination series. They also risk being denied the opportunity to enter for a period of time following the malpractice. Therefore, the purpose of the policy is to ensure that students understand the importance of producing their own work, together with the procedures in place to prevent, monitor and detect the possibility of assessment malpractice including plagiarism. The student or staff identified in any malpractice will be subject to the disciplinary action.
The policy of LOC Centre with respect to disability and disability rights is framed within the context of the current legislation with the objective of ensuring that the College is sensitive in all respects to the special needs of our staff and students, and all with whom we have dealings. We aim to be pro-active in this regard, and are striving to ensure that all staff receive appropriate disability training and all procedures relating to the recruitment, selection and career development of staff, and relating to the recruitment, admission, pastoral care and teaching of students, are sensitive to the needs of those concerned and make reasonable adjustment where necessary.
